Makaha Sons...

on Thursday night before I left, we finally got to see out favorite
Hawaiian group of all time perform...the Makaha Sons.

This had been the first time that we'd seen the "new" group since the
passing of John Koko.  We wanted to support Jerome and Moon.
And so did a lot of other people...

it was the most perfect evening at the Waikiki Aquarium.
Since we live so far, we weren't able to sit with our friends, who had been in
line since the early afternoon...but that was fine.

Dear Iris gave me my favorite lei (Hawaiian style white ginger)
for my birthday...

and even had a super yummy chocolate cake that Dave and Jan delivered to us.
Mahalo again, Iris.

but the very best part was listening to the boys.
The sound was a little different, but we think it may have been due to the mixing.

Moon's wife was the hula dancer along with John's son, Shadow.

They mentioned that they hadn't been at the Aquarium for 9 years,
I hope it won't be another 9 before they come back.

It was magical in so many ways.
