Another tour...

I pulled into Liliha Bakery the other day and this is what
I found...
What??? A tour to local restaurants.

I looked on their website, don't get it...
is it 1 coco puff, 1 malasada, 1 manapua, etc, etc...?
Nope, not my idea of fun.

Grannys night out...

The other night I took two of my friends, Kay and Coco up to El Palenque
for dinner.  Neither one of them had ever been there before, so it
was fun taking them the first time!
We were laughing on the way up because both of them
were going to babysit their grands once we got back from dinner...

always a Granny!
Mahalo Kay and Coco for a fun night out...we'll have to go out again!

Lunch @ Dukes...

Yesterday, since I had to be in town so early for a
hula practice with Tony C., I went into Waikiki to have
lunch with the Foote Family.
We may have ordered every pupu on the menu.

The poke was soooo good, we ordered two servings!  Perfect, "broke da mouth kine"

At least one part of Waikiki hasn't changed... the Kepoikai.
Mahalo Foote family for such a nice lunch.
I was thinking about the kids and how much they've grown up and how really nice they are.
Good job!!!

Super Sunny...

The other day my friend, Cora, posted this picture on Instagram.
I loved it for so many reasons!
The composition, the lone palm tree shadow, the un-crowded beach,
the clear sky, Diamond Head and town in the distance, and lastly just that it was so
different from most pictures people take .

The perfect Hawaiian summer picture!

Thank You Cora for such a great photo!

Pioneer Day...

Did you know...

Since I was just in Utah recently, I can appreciate the feat of these early pioneers.
Yes, it is something that should be celebrated.

Waikane Valley...

On one of our trips to the windward side, we made a right turn at this sign and
found this...

another one of those little hidden treasures that makes Hawaii so unique.

Sisterhood Under The Stars...

Yesterday was our RS Activity Night.  We did something a little different by
not having it at the chapel, but outside at the Bishop's house at his
fire pit.
We decided on a pretty simple menu, Tinfoil dinners, Friendship salad and s'mores (of course!).
We, as a presidency, met early at the chapel to prep the food so it would be easy to
assemble at the fire pit.

I got to the Bishop's house early and was so excited to see a "real" fire and a
campfire setting.

The tinfoil dinners turned out to be a huge hit.
Gourmet sausages, heirlom  fingerling potatoes, Maui onion, carrots and sweet peppers.

A lot of people didn't understand the concept of "Friendship Salad", bring 1 piece of fruit and
and it all together.  It was so good!

the dinners cooking...

camp songs were sang,

games played,

lots of talking,

and s'mores consumed!

We had a great turnout for something so different from our
usual activities.  The setting was really like being away in the
mountains, the campfire smoke smell, the dirt, songs, the sound of
the wind in the ironwood trees, no rain, and millions of stars...
I was in Girl Scout Heaven!

Just another reason we love Waialua Ward!

To Molokai...

The Scouts have returned from their hiking/camping trip to Molokai.
They held car washes to help fund the trip.
They were gone a week and everyone that I talked to on Sunday that went
said how hard it was, but also what a fantastic experience.
One of the leaders, Kia Kamauu has posted some great pictures.
I went through and choose some that not only showed the beauty of Molokai, but
could tell part of the story of their trip.
Yes, this was a once in a lifetime adventure, and not something that
will be quickly forgotten I'm sure.
Mahalo again Kia for the pictures.
