A wonderful teacher at Waialua Elementary, Dale Yoshizu, made this video about a
year ago. I just love it because it has a real vintage feel and he used some very old
photos along with his own.
Dale was born and raised here in Waialua. There was even
a hospital out here! Waialua had a sugar mill that closed in 1999, so all
of the surrounding area was devoted to growing sugar cane. Hubby remembers
driving out to the North Shore from town and all you could see was sugar cane.
