In every public school (I would also assume in private schools also) here in Hawaii, Hawaiiana is taught. Basic lessons in the language and history are taught about our unique state. At Waialua Elementary, Kumu (teacher) Sturm is the one who conducts the classes. This year has been different because she's actually coming into A-10 while I'm there. In the above picture she was teaching the students the name of each island and the color that represents each island.
I'm excited that I actually get to be there and listen to her lessons. Maybe I'll learn a little something!
