I put together a "Polar Express" unit to do today as something
special for the day before I leave.
We started the morning with "Polar Express Math Packet", solving problems
involving candy, cookies and other goodies.
We spent our Language Arts block doing close reading of the book.
The kids answered questions about the story as we did the second read.
After lunch, as a surprise, we watched the movie and did a compare and
contrast between the movie and book.
It was interesting that they picked up on more details in the movie, but
loved the book for other reasons.
Half way through the movie they got to drink hot coco (yes even in 80 degree Waialua).
