Waimea Falls...

I just found these photos on my camera.  These are from August
when the grands came for a visit.  I had really wanted to take them to
Waimea Falls since I had been there a few months earlier.  So we went
early in the morning when they opened.  My sweet friend, Marisa, took on
a personal tour of the park.  She showed Jack a Jack Fruit tree, we saw
some very special babies and learned some special things about the
park.

She dropped us off at the falls and the kids got their life vest on.  Life vest and
lifeguards are something new there (the last few years).
It was a little crowded since a tour bus had come, but really not too
bad.

they said the water was cold, but refreshing.  They made it to
the rocks below the falls, but were surprised how it felt
with the water falling.

after their swim, we walked back to wait for the tram.

perfect time for a shave ice

and a chance to try out the conch shell.
Jack could actually do it, but Lauren tried and couldn't
get any sound out.
Jack could get a job on the Kepoikai, blowing the horn to
get the tourist out of the way.

I'm so glad that I got to take them to this very special
place.

Fall Ball...

Jack is playing fall baseball.
I went to his game the other day on a day that was 91 degrees...
I had to hand it to the boys, they played on.

This year the boys are pitching to each other, so this is really different.
Jack has been doing really well with his hitting.

towards the end of the game he pitched and struck out three players

Good Job Jack...
you deserved that game ball!

Surf Check...

these cousins, who share a birthday
also share a love of surfing.
Friday they both had the day off and so after breakfast we had to
go down to T Street to do a surf check.
It was glassy, a little off-shore...
but so crowded!

we didn't have Grey's wetsuit,
so they didn't go surf
but it was still nice to hang out and check out the surf
with your cousin!

Elephants On Parade...

there's an outdoor exhibit in Dana Point right now,
Elephant Parade.
This is a way of bringing the plight of the Asian elephant to the public.
These elephants have been decorated by famous artist.
Each one is different and unique.
I didn't even see half of them, but loved the ones I did see.
I think this "woody" one may have been my favorite.

Science Can Be Yum...

the other day, after a very long week,  I'd told Arlette that I'd like
to do a science lesson on matter.
