Reef Hawaiian Pro...

They're getting ready for the Reef Pro to start.  This is the first contest
in the Triple Crown.
Everything is set, just waiting for waves.  The 12th was
the actual start day, but since do waves and they have a "wait period"
they can put it off until they get the waves.

There is a lot going on the North Shore tied to
the Triple Crown,  since this is the 30th anniversary.

Even if they didn't have waves, it was still a beautiful day on the North Shore.

Veterans Day...

“America's veterans have served their country with the belief that democracy and freedom are ideals to be upheld around the world.”
-John Doolittle

A huge mahalo to Billy, Charlotte, Ed, our neighbors, members
of Waialua Ward ohana and friends near and far who are serving or
have served this great country of ours ...
we just want you to know how much we really appreciate your service
and honor you today.

Chasing Mavericks...

Friday night hubby and I went to see the film "Chasing Mavericks".
We had really wanted to see it because Jay Moriarity had been a
friend of Geoff's when they surfed contest together.

This is a great movie.  It's not a surf movie.  The surf part of it
was heart-stopping for sure, but the story behind it is something
that legends are made of.
It was nice to see that a movie was made about the really good party of surfing and
why people love it so much.
Too bad Jay Moriarity had to die so young.

Papaoku's...

there's a new resturant in Haleiwa, Papokus.
It's by the Haleiwa Post Office.
It's all Hawaiian "local" food and really yummy.

strange that I didn't take any pictures of the food.
Really was good.
