A Brief Double...

the other evening hubby and I took a drive.  It was so pretty.  We drove 

down to the harbor to look at a boat he'd seen down there.  When we turned around there 

was a double rainbow.  I had my phone in my hand and took a couple of pics.  

it was sprinkling (that's why there was a rainbow) and I was trying not to get wet,

I didn't even have time to snap a panorama photo of it before it 

was gone.

We see a lot of rainbows...maybe even 1 a day.

We were talking about how we should never take 

advantage of the beauty here because it can be so brief, just like this rainbow.

A Moment In Time...

hubby and I drove down to Haleiwa Beach Park after dinner.

We were sitting watching the turtles and paddlers, just talking about nothing.

We knew it wasn't going to be the spectacular sunset from the night before.

Just as we were leaving, I held out my iPhone and snapped 3 quick pics.

I took a quick look and posted one to Instragram ('cause thats what I do).

Now when I look at it...I really like this photo. Not sure even why...

it's a little off in the composition and dark.  That's probably why I like it.

here and at the MH, we've used a lot of my photos as art on the walls, 

this one I just might have to use too because it's...

just a moment in time.

Spectacular Sunset...

last night's sunset was something spectacular...

I didn't realize until I walked into the kitchen and everything was

that beautiful pink color.

I got my camera, but it had already changed.

School Hasn't Quite Ended...

I've been meeting Arlette at school everyday.  We decided to update the

classroom a bit.

So nothing has been moved onto the carpet yet except the new desk and

chairs.

We have taken old stuff off the walls.

found some fabric to cover the bulletin boards...

and spent a day doing that...

she's the climber, I'm the stapler and holder

it's been so pretty from upstairs...

 everything is beginning to come together

this is when I use my computer skills to update

and make new...

since summer school has started, kids from last year have come in and looked

at all the new boards.

We seem to have a "monkey" theme going on...hope this doesn't mean

that the new second graders are going to be "little monkeys"...

Aloha Hintons...

our friends, the Hinton's, are moving back to the mainland.

I knew this day was coming, but didn't really want to think about it.

Autumn and I both served on the RS Presidency at the same time.  They lived

close to us and used to walk over for visits.  Not only did we share a love for

Anthropologie colored bowls, Le Creuset and Kate Spade...but she shared

by love of Downton Abbey!

Brad could talk to Terry about cars since they also have an Audi and a BUS!

The kids, Avery, Baker and Hazel are such sweet spirits.  Hazel will actually go

up to Uncle Terry now.

there had been a pot luck beach bbq planned yesterday, but right at the time it was supposed 

to start, it started raining like crazy (flash flood kind).  They moved to Waialua Bandstand,

but that was also crazy, since the rain was blowing sideways.  As a last resort, we moved

to the church.

They set up the portable bbq outside, grilled hot dogs and burgers and the kids ran wild.  It was the best indoor picnic

ever!

a hui hou Hinton Ohana, I'll miss you terribly!

Kennedy...

early last Friday morning, sweet Kennedy Hansen lost her battle 

with very rare Batten's Disease.

We got to meet Kennedy last summer when she got her "Make A Wish"

wish come true and she and her family came to Hawaii.  Kennedy's

aunty is our friend Kerilyn.

What a sweet spirit she was.

School's Out...

and A-9 went out with a bang!

We had a last day feast that was the best!

Somen salad (my favorite), teri chicken/rice

hot dogs, chips, spam musubi, deconstructed musubi (another favorite) and

lumpia that was so good.

We were celebrating 2 birthdays with dessert 

and some very yummy cake pops.

we watched "Charlotte's Web" (the live action one) and I was 

laughing that they even remembered the dialogue.

this was a great group of kids that will be terrific 3rd graders!
