Ironman

When we first decided to go holo holo, I told hubby I'd see what deals I could get, but it

was Fall Break.  Well we got the deal and took off.  Little did we realize but it

was Ironman Week in Kona.  Yikes! The place was crawling with tons of people everywhere,

especially in downtown Kona and all over the highways.

We only went through downtown once, and that was enough.

Our travels actually took us on the Queen K highway that is

used for the bike part.  Wow! Long, hot, voggy, did I mention long and HOT?

The winner finished the whole thing in 8 hrs 3mins.....amazing. 2 1/2 mile swim,

112 mile bike and 26 mile run!

Holo Holo to the Big Island

Hubby and I are taking a few days and going to the Big Island.  He goes for work and I

go for Merrie Monarch, so we never really spent any time together there.
I'm not sure we'll get to Hilo Town, we've got some places we'd like
to see Hapuna, Puako and South Point.
Maybe see a few friends for short visits...
no plans, just go.

Hoyt Hale

My trip ended with a relaxing afternoon at Hoyt Hale Keahou.  The perfect end to a fun trip.

Kona to Hilo

This year I flew into Kona from Honolulu and drove to Hilo.

I'm amazed at how BIG and different the Big Island is.  It's much hotter on the Kona side, all that black lava.

I had a chance to stop and visit with this sweet lady.  We figured out that we'd known each other

for about 30 years.  I just love Barbara and was sorry that Caroline was still on the mainland (next time).

Heading to Waimea, the weather changes...gets much cooler and fog!
