Zippy's...

Zippy's is so Hawaii!
Place to go late at night or early morning.
Some are just walk in and some are real sit-down restaurants.
There aren't any in Waikiki, so it really is a local place.
They've always been just on Oahu, but recently opened one in Hilo.
Food that's not fancy, food that's pretty "regular", food that is just Zippys.

Some of my favorites...
Tofu burger,

Miso Garlic Chicken salad,

Saimin when it's cold,

but the #1 best is...
Chili...meat, vegi, any type!

Paprika...

I'm in love with Paprika!
Not sure how I came across this app (probably through Apple), called
PAPRIKA.  It's an app for organizing recipes.
I have my phone with me all the time, so it seems like if I'm at the
store shopping for dinner, I end up looking up the recipe on my phone.
Sometimes it's not the exact one I've made before.

So with Paprika, I can put in my recipes and then
go directly to the one I'm looking for.
It shows the ingredients I need and the recipe.
I can make a grocery list right from this.

I must say it hasn't been that hard/time consuming to put recipes into it. The process
is actually just dragging the blog recipe into Paprika, so not too bad.
I love that there are photos that I can take right off the website or blog.
It was $20, which was a little pricey, but I've decided so worth it.

The best part is that since I have a Mac and an iPhone everything
is synced together! Not sure about PC's
Oh how I love technology.

Never Forget...

I can still remember that horrible morning.
Calling both kids and hubby and I watched in shock.
Going to school and watching in horror as
the events unfolded and it became clear what was going on.

We must never forget that day, ever.

Rain...

Saturday we had some rain.  Not just the trade shower type of
rain...real rain.  The kind where it pours off the roof, comes straight down
and makes it so you can't see the mountain or the house next door!
This may not look like a lot of rain, but believe me it was, a few
inches in a few minutes.
Good for the plants and yard, but not so good when my slippers
got left outside.

a hui hou...

These five kids had a great time this past few weeks.
The girls I think had been counting down the days like I was until the Grands
got here.  Once they did it was like they'd never been apart.

There was a sleep-over with breakfast for dinner and lots of laughs, giggles and
Mad Lib writing that made us all laugh until we had tears in our eyes.

All too soon it was time to say good-bye.  Lauren had cried herself to sleep the night before.
She'd even asked Gretchen if she could also home school her along with Lulu.  Jack was
sure he could go to Waialua El in 2nd grade with me. They had it all planned out.

These two are really special friends

so  after a crazy morning of cancelled flight (which Lauren said was a sign..." just have to stay",
mom and dad said it was time.

Final hugs and promises to see each other soon.  Now that they all
can Face Time or e-mail thats a great way to stay in touch.
Thanks again guys, we loved having you here and
can't wait until next year!

Love You!

Hide-An-Seek...

Every night all the kids played hide-an-seek in the yard until it was too dark.
The counting was also done by she crazy next door.
The kids ignored her

seems like everyone was hiding in the same place...

Oh, We went to the hukilau...

One morning I took Traci & kids over to the Hukilau for breakfast.
It was so good.  Pretty easy to get something there for Lauren
to eat that was GF.

I love their hash!  Yummy!

After breakfast, we had to make a quick trip by the Temple.
What a way to start a day!
