Waialua Homecoming Parade...

Yesterday was the Waialua High School Homecoming parade. Found a great place to park/sit
in the shade with some friends from school.  It was really fun.
There was everything that a Homecoming Parade should have...

police stopping traffic,

flags held by some of the military from Scholfield,

hot rods,

even broken down hot rods,
school band (this is our neighbor Yok),

cheerleaders,

bullpups,

 elementary school principal & students,
floats,

football players (yah Nati),

Senior class pride,

mascots and,

a queen and king!

The perfect parade.  Go Bulldogs!

Skater Chick...

(I didn't realize I hadn't posted this little video.  It's from our trip to SC a few weeks ago)
Lauren has become a skater chick.  She's taught herself to turn the board, etc.
Since Jack had a practice before his game, we told her that she could skate
around the playground at the school.  She kept this up for close to two hours!
That night she said her legs were so sore. Even the next day she said that
her legs hurt...

She said that by being a good skate boarder, that will make her
a better surfer.

The First Is FIVE...

Five years ago Sujung was the First...she was the first baby born on our street.
She was a wonder! Not only to her parents, but to everyone else.
Rickey had never been around a tiny baby.  The girls were in love...we all were.
We celebrated her first 100 days with a Korean custom, laughed when she did
and when she started to walk, everyone was there to cheer her on!

Today she turned 5!
Where did that time go?
Flying by that's for sure.

 Happy Birthday SuSu,
our 1st love!

No Thank You...

While I was at Kapiolani Park one day, I saw some people taking lessons (I think)
for hang-gliding.  Not sure if that's even what this is called.
It wasn't overly windy that day, but watching them try to hold these parachute things down,
looked really hard.

The instructor really had to hold onto the girl when the chute inflated...it
looked like she could take off any minute.

No Thank You, this isn't anything I think I'd like to try anytime soon.
Didn't seem like there was a lot of control with these things.

Fall is in the air

Around here the changes are so slight they might go unnoticed...but they are there.
High schools getting ready for the big game (this is in Kahuku, they've put the players names and
photos on the poles along the highway).

there are advertisments for Haunted Lagoon everywhere!
The most beautiful sunsets
Skies so clear, with just whispy clouds

An ever so drop in the nighttime temp.  Have to use a blanket now instead of
only a sheet!

I love these changes!

Aloha Festival Parade 2011

This year's Aloha Festival Parade was just beautiful!
I went down right after hula and found a great parking spot in the park.
I love this parade!
It used to be televised during the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade as part of
"Thanksgiving across America", but they stopped doing that.  It's really too bad to.
Everyone should have a chance to see these beautiful floats and the
groups that are so unique to Hawaii.
Every island is represented by a Princess and her court that
are dressed in colors representing that island.  So beautiful.

Our friend, Toni Lee, Chairwomen of the Parade.
Mahalo Toni and all the groups.  It was beautiful!

First Soccer Game...

Jack has started his 2nd season playing soccer.  This year his team name is "The Sith" (has something
to do with Star Wars).
I think he understands a little bit more about the game this year.

I love soccer season, it's funny to go to our grandkids games just
like we used to do with our kids.  What's really funny is
when we run into friends we've known for years that are also
doing the Saturday morning games with their grandkids.

Bridging to Juniors...

In Girl Scouting when you have been a Brownie and then go into the 4th grade,
you bridge into Junior Girl Scouts.
Lauren belongs to a GS troop at her school.  They had their bridging ceremony at their
first meeting of the school year.
This will be the first year that they will get to go to Camp Sherman and work on badges.

Did I mention that I was a Girl Scout and Lauren's mommy was a Girl Scout?
I'm glad to see that she's building such strong bonds and making those fond memories.

Miss Emme turns 1

This pretty little green-eyed girl turned one recently.
Her party was at "baby beach" in Dana Point Harbor.  What started off
as a "June Gloom" morning turned into a bright sunny day for a party!
Bri did such a good job with the decorations, favors, food, cake, etc.

Emme is growing up so fast, I just want her to stay like this forever!
Happy Birthday to our littlest princess!
